A BRDE'S DAY IN THE CITY

There's something wonderfully unexpected about a bride moving through the city as if it were any other day. She stops for coffee, studies the flowers at a sidewalk stand, checks the time, peers into a shop window, and waits for a taxi while the rest of the world hurries past. Against wet pavement, café windows and old stone buildings, bridal white suddenly feels less ceremonial and more alive. The dress is still extraordinary, but the woman wearing it has somewhere to go.

That's the spirit behind A Bride’s Day in the City. Rather than posing our bride with the obligatory bouquet, we let her inhabit the clothes—walking, sitting, eating, laughing, paying the bill, or catching her headpiece when the wind picks up. Sleek sheaths, tailored coatdresses and beautifully constructed suits seem particularly at home here. Perhaps that's what makes city bridal dressing so appealing: elegance doesn't require a grand entrance. Sometimes all it needs is a bride stepping onto the sidewalk and getting on with her day.
