BOHEMIAN OPULENCE: A Wedding in the Woods

What do you get when you mix a good amount of glitter with a rustic ceremony in the woods?  This fabulous set of inspirations by Georgia-based photographer Andie Freeman.  Right down to the minutest detail she has captured the Boho spirit from the drape of the bride's gown right down to the flower petals.  Here's what she had to say about putting together all the intricacies of this shoot: "When event designer, Jessie Patton, and I first started thinking about this inspiration shoot, we really wanted to incorporate elements that were unique. We knew bohemian would be our main inspiration, but we wanted to incorporate luxury not normally seen in a Boho wedding. We included real crystal, gold overlays, and glitz and glam, followed up with a beautiful location with wild pines and an old chimney. The ceremony inspiration would take place in front of the chimney, and we brought in a beautiful mantle to act as the altar. Gold chiavari chairs lined the aisle and we had dried lavender bunches for pew markers. They release a lovely smell every time they were touched . . . . .

Reception Inspiration: we had farmhouse tables to reflect the rustic elements but adorned them with a lace runner, a gold candelabra dripping in crystals, gold chargers, white china rimmed in gold, crystal stemware, and to top it all off, real heirloom silverware that my mother-in-law brought all the way from Britain as my wedding gift. There were gold chiavari chairs on the sides of the table with dried lavender bunches linked together with a greenery swag. At the ends of the tables sat beautiful red velvet chairs. We wanted to really incorporate rich colors into the session, choosing burgundy as our main color with berries and then accenting with rosemary and other jewel toned flowers. The paper suite was hand madeby an amazing calligraphy artist, Sherry Beauchamp. Our bride wore a beautiful floral halo in deep hues of green and purple and had a gorgeous one shouldered nude dress encrusted with silver sequins. To top it all off, on her feet, our bride wore the most amazing gold Sergio Rossi pumps that wrapped around her legs with lace detail. They came all the way from Caesar's Palace in Las Vegas!

Our couple are actually a real couple. I wanted a bride and groom that could show true emotion and these two love each other so much. They are wonderful together and so comfortable showing emotion in front of the camera. Not to mention that she is a such a perfect bohemian bride with her Italian features and lovely, long brunette locks. They were a natural choice. For our menu, we chose vegetarian offerings to represent the bohemian feel. Our buffet table centerpiece was a large crystal vase filled with beautiful dried hydrangeas.

The menu consisted of a carrot and ginger soup, a bohemian salad, a cheese board, fruit tray and honey whole wheat bread freshly baked.

Our cake was a naked cake adorned with rosemary and blackberries.Topping it all off sat a handmade 'Love' cake topper in burnished gold. The cake sat on a gold cake plate dripping in crystals that matched the centerpiece candelabra. It all sat on a vintage truck beside a port bar with crystal port decanters. One actually belonged to my deceased father in law and is very important to our family. I feel that including heirloom items like the decanter and the silverware is so very important to personalizing a wedding. Around the cake, we had a sitting area that included an antique lime settee.

THE BLUSHING BRIDE

Totally loving the style of Toronto-based wedding photographer, Samantha Ong.  Here the vision
was to create a romantic and rustic wedding shoot with a whimsical undertone. This whisper soft color palette fuses blush pinks, whites and creams, as well as hints of gold-- the style ideal for the romantic, down to earth bride who loves flowers, ruffles, lace and everything pink!

The Details:  The Trillium Trails Banquet & Conference Centre is a Bavarian style lodge with impressive grounds showcasing lush hills, an adorable foot bridge over a pond, a stone foot path and plenty of blossoming trees. The grounds focal point is a deluxe white arbor, spanning the ceremony space. For this shoot the wedding professionals decorated the main alter space with a custom made paper garland showcasing white doilies, white ruffled cones, and pops of pink textured flowers.

The table was dressed with a medium weight lace overlay, with a pink tablecloth peering through the intricate lace pattern. The romantic, whimsical feel was carried through the place setting which included ruffled edge bone china plates and lightweight stainless steel cutlery. Wine and champagne glasses sparkled and added a touch of elegance to the rustic table.
Avoiding the single centerpiece design, check out the 3 pink-gold mirrored vases and 3 clear glass lantern vases featuring a variety of soft, luscious flowers, creating a casual cascading centerpiece. The table was anchored by a lovely floral table-number frame, and mini-frames with guest names for a personalized seating experience.

The stationary included a circular rose-print style menu card with charming font. The invitations were stunning with a white invitation card dressed up with a gold painted doily overlay, elegant font, and a blush pink envelope with a rose pattern peek-a-boo interior. The whimsical program cards featured a pictogram wedding party on a rustic cardstock. The ‘Just Married’ sign continued the floral theme and was a perfect touch of whimsy for wedding photographs.

The cake sat upon a magical ruffled edge cake stand. It featured a soft blush ruffle layer dusted with a hint of gold on the edges sitting beneath a white pearl beaded layer topped with a flower with delicate pink petals and a jewel-like gold center.

The wedding dress with beaded sweetheart neckline and a-line tulle skirt provided an effortlessly dreamy silhouette. The bride wore elegant drop pearl earrings, with a matching pearl necklace and double pearl bracelet, not to outshine the classic, singular stone engagement ring.  The bride’s beauty was enhanced with soft natural blush lips, pink hue eye shadow, mascara and liner to enhance her eye shape, and an overall warm wedding glow. Her hair was styled down with loose, natural curls allowing bounce and movement.

The floral headpiece focused on mini pink roses to frame the bride’s lovely face. Her stunning bouquet featured peonies, roses and other soft florals creating a blush-peach-pink-rose palette. The greenery added interest and brought back the rustic outdoors feel to the bouquet wrapped up with white lace and pearl pins.

From beginning to end the ‘Blushing Bride’ wedding shoot focused on romantic, whimsical elements in a gorgeous rustic setting. The blush pink, white and gold wedding palette is a classic, beautiful scheme suitable for a bride who enjoys a romantic rustic atmosphere with delicate ruffle and lace touches.
