THE PRINTED BRIDESMAID

Want to try a little viva la difference? While solid color dresses can be awesome on bridesmaids just look what's trending on the bridal front in checks, stripes florals and then some!
One of the best things about fusing prints  into your bridesmaid's look is the opportunity to blend in diverse colors and tie everything together with accessories.  This includes bouquets and decor believe it or not. A few brides are even mixing  different prints entirely with stunning results.
Did you know, dresses sporting prints are likelier candidates for actual wear after the wedding--not hidden in the back of a closet or eventually cut up to make throw pillows.
Plaids
Plaids and tartans prints are the darlings of winter and Scottish themed weddings (think plaid taffetas). Now trending, they can be worn any season. I was surprised at my own spring nups when I blended colors I didn't really like on their own  but had a lot of persona in a tartan. Plaids can be the ideal backdrop for mixing colors and making getting your decor and accessories to pop.
 Flowers
Of all the prints florals are the most common. Florals are perfect matches for weddings because they're oh so romantic and lend that girly aspect. You can put your maids in all the same florals as well as mixing it up.
 Polka Dots
My very fave print, polka dots lend a certain whimsy to any wedding. Add to that they go hand in hand with pin-up fashion so if your bridesmaids like playing a the sexy lady these darling dots are spot on after the wedding.
Stripes
Large or small lines, stripes add a clean precision..  I always picture them perfect for a nautical or Eastern Seaboard wedding especially in blue. Take into mind not every bridesmaid can flaunt stripes. Small and rounder bodies pair up better in smaller stripe patterns.

Tye Dye During the hippie/flower child era in the late 1960's-early 70's, tye dye was the big thing in casual wear. Forty years later, formal wear is adapting the look. Though you can find it in rayon and silk, cotton is certainly the classic and perfect for summer weddings.
 Potpourri
Be brave!  Mix it up some--one bridesmaid in dots and another in flowers.  Count on your keen eye to balance out and tell you how much diversity is a definite winner!.

A NUTCRACKER FANTASY WEDDING

If you're anything like me you want to keep the spirit and hang onto every bit of Christmas there is!  I ask you, what could be more apropos for us winter wonderland junkies than a Nutcracker themed wedding in all it's glory?  I absolutely love this backdrop that is Westfield's Marriot in Washinton D.C.  Captured so beautifully by Mila Jackson Photography, this styled shoot incorporates ballet, imagery from the story and professional dancers as the bride and groom.  Said the photographer about this shoot:
"This was a collaborative effort by all involved from beginning to end.  Dedication and hard work are evident in every detail--the individual hand-crafted invitations and stationary, hand painted details, real art decor of the venue, design of the cake and gorgeous bridal gown."

Extra kudos go out to this fascinating group of wedding pros who not only gave us a good dose of Christmas but wedding inspiration as well . . . .
