SHOE CHIC
First and foremost, you want comfort. It’s going to be a long day, and that means you’ll be spending most of it on foot. That said, chic shoes don’t always mean that one must suffer for beauty. Though I don’t recommend stilettos if you want to last the day, if your tolerance for exhaustion is high and you’re already ace at navigating around in them in a floor-length dress, go for it. Ideally, low-heeled pumps or sandals with no more than a two-inch heel should work fine. White or ivory satin and peau are the traditional textures for bridal footwear. You can, however, wear leather or just about anything else--sequins, feathers, bling-- as long as it enhances your overall look. Shorter hemlines and ankle-length dresses that focus on legs and feet especially call for shoes that complement the hemline.
Will your shoes be in a hue? Even brides all dressed in white from veil to hem are opting for green, blue, red, or yellow shoes under their dresses. I'm not certain if this is a passing trend or a tradition happily broken. Also, different colors symbolize luck, happiness, and good fortune. White pumps and sandals with white gowns will always be with us. Now, though, so will any shoe in any color that works under your dress.
