Tiers are rows of either skirts or ruffles--that cascade vertically, horizontally or asymmetrically down a skirt or bodice. Tiers can be one or up to even ten layers of tiering in a range of lengths and fabrics. Think of a Spanish dancer and you've nailed the look. Wonderful gowns.
I think my favorite is in photo 2. The lovely lace sleeves are especially beautiful.

Tiers add a whole new dimension to weddings gowns. Tiers add depth and movement and a certain rustic, retro elegance. Beautiful!
