TENNESSEE WOODLAND STYLED SHOOT

I adore anything in the woodsy.  When I feasted my eyes on this gem shot last spring of the Southeastern Tennessee woodlands I just had to share. What an inspiration for any wedding even hinting a fairytale theme! Surrounded in a beautiful forest in Maryville, Tennessee is RT Lodge; a historic mansion built in 1932 transformed into a wedding and event lodge known as a "treasure in the woods".
Inspired by an overgrown forest, Chris Davis from The Drawing Room in Knoxville and Leah Moyers Photography styled this amazing shoot starting with a slate blue, blush, and muted gold color palette. She captured the wedding party and details with sunlight streaming in through the ivy canopy in the forest, on pathways covered by moss, and by the reflecting pond surrounded by slate at RT Lodge. The reception area was lit with candles and Italian string lights at dusk.  A truly gorgeous touch.
The Clothes: Owner Cindy Lou Douglas And Keren Davis from Knoxville's Chop Shop Hair Studio created a 1950s inspired pretty yet edgy bridal updo and Aveda makeup accentuated it all with a dark plum lip. The Bride's gorgeous Watters Wtoo blush A-line gown with spaghetti straps was provided by Wedding Wonderland of Knoxville and featured feminine beaded appliqué and blush pink tulle. The beauty of the dress was captured in the blooming Tennessee Bradford Pear trees. The Bride is wearing gold Richard Tyler shoes and cascading berry inspired gold earrings; the Maid of Honor's earrings have a modern shape and amber stones. MOH also wearing gold Richard Tyler shoes and a short modern slate blue sheath dress by MNG for Mango, a vintage lucite clutch, and a casual, modern updo with makeup from Chop Shop Hair Studio. She and the MOH carried bouquets featuring white calla lilies, Queen Anne's lace, eucalyptus, and delicate pink peonies surrounded by branches. The Bride's modern and very affordable engagement and wedding band set are by Carla Caruso. The handmade 14k satin finish gold rings inspired by blueberry branches were a perfect fit for the styled shoot.
The Groom and Best Man wore beautiful modern Prestige Tuxedo Allure Slate Blue wool suits with slim-fit two-button satin framed lapels, matching vests, flat-front trousers, blush bow ties with matching pocket squares, and elegant ivory and gold cufflinks from Knoxville's M.S. McClellan's accented by creative and woodsy eucalyptus and calla lily boutonnieres from Samuel Franklin. The cufflinks are highlighted on a vintage art deco men's cologne box from the historic Miller's department store local to Knoxville, TN, established in 1905.
The Food and Decor: Leah and Chris chose a blush tablecloth with ribbon rose appliqués, solid ivory overlay and napkins from White Table in Knoxville, branch napkin rings, and Louis French hand painted blue and gray custom finish linen upholstered chairs from The Drawing Room Interior Design in Knoxville, TN. The tabletop is a formal yet eclectic mix of hand etched crystal glassware and matte gold flatware with gold accented china and Annieglass ruffled gold chargers with 24k gold bands handcrafted in California, all from Glass Bazaar in Knoxville. The table was accented with antique bronze candelabras and a gorgeous floral arrangement provided by Samuel Franklin in Clinton, TN with beautiful white calla lilies, Queen Ann's lace, white hydrangea, eucalyptus, and fresh pink peonies cradled in woodland branches and an overabundance of ivy to recreate the beauty and peaceful mood found deep inside an overgrown forest.
Buttermilk Sky Pie made delicious Lemon Merinque, Nanny's Pecan and Southern Buttermilk individual and whole pies for the pie bar accompanied by fresh milk in Diane Von Furstenberg steel blue stemware. The inspiration for the escort card table was the antique slag glass Leah would see for sale on the side of the road on the way to The Smoky Mountains. A by-product of the process of smelting ore, the blush pink opaque pressed glass pieces are unique antique collectibles that catch the light beautifully.
