THE VINEYARD BRIDE

The venue: A winery.  The dress: Think elegantly casual. Easy to wear. Light and airy.

Living just 30 minutes from the Napa Valley, I’m constantly reminded why the California wine country is one of the most iconic destinations for weddings. With its year‑round temperate climate and rustic aesthetic, the wine country is undeniably one of the best places to say “I do.”

Beautiful as it is, California isn't the only spot to offer this kind of panoramic experience.  Across the country and globe, other locales feature their own versions of sunset-lit rows of vines. To name a few, Tuscany, Provence, the Barossa Valley in Australia, and the Finger Lakes region of upstate New York have vineyard settings that bring together everything couples could want for their celebration: breathtaking scenery and the joy of being surrounded by friends and family. Just a touch more formal than a farm or orchard, a vineyard is rustic enough to feel inviting, refined enough to remain elegant. For some, this makes an ideal canvas for an unforgettable wedding day.

The six gowns below have been curated from my collection to blend into a wine country scene. The most important things to remember? Zero in on a laid-back yet chic style.  Go for lightweight fabrics that breathe well and make maneuvering about easier. Overall, this all adds up to comfort-- the kind of dress you feel so pretty in that you won't want to take off at the end of the day.

Header Photo and Above: BRIGITTA. Ideal for a summer vineyard wedding, this slip dress silhouette features varied laces and treatments. Chantilly laces in the midriff and bodice are bordered in Alencon and Chantilly laces. An incredibly light and airy wear.
Below: ARABELLA: Somewhere between ballet and Belle Époque-inspired, this ball gown features a full tulle skirt and a bodice adorned with handmade silk-and-lace cut-out roses and peonies, giving the dress a romantic look.

Above: PENELOPE. An empire-waisted A-line in French lace and silk chiffon. Another lightweight, elegantly casual, and easy-to-wear gown. Below: MIA. The beauty is in the simplicity and lux 4-ply ivory crepe. There's a touch of lace on this slip dress with back and side-seam godets. This gown is an ideal candidate for accessorizing because it's so basic.

Above: ADELINA. A transparent silk chiffon blouse with bias-cut ruffles along the neck and bodice has flowing bishop sleeves. The Duchess satin skirt, accented with an embroidered taffeta belt, is a separate piece.
