In the words of Eva Satchell of Victoria Bridal Boutique: "This shoot has been playing in my mind for some time now and to finally be able to put this together was amazing! I was approached by local photographer Rebecca Carroll of Rivkah Photography and this idea came screaming out! We planned the theme and look which blended extremely well. Becca wanted to incorporate a West Coast flare mixed with Victorian Elegance. OK, so what does this consist of? Let's say trailing wild Ivy bouquets with pops of chiffon, handmade flowers matched with handcrafted headpieces laced in silk florals and crystal bling gems..As a store manager in a Victoria Bridal Boutique where the shoot took place, I handpicked two elegant Victorian Kenneth Winston Gowns screaming AMAZING! Not only did the models fit them perfectly, I feel they captured the true beauty we were aiming for. Our make-up and hair artists worked beautifully together bringing the ever so stunning models to the breathtaking point of perfection. The soft flowing curls to the pop of color in the eyeshadows brought our close up images that WOW factor. Becca our photographer worked closely with our artists to make sure the look and feel were coming to life. The cake was something I had envisioned and Passion for Cakes delivered! It brought our West Coast theme together. Being a wedding planner and decorator I had everything I needed to stage this shoot from couches to vintage cases right there in my showroom inside the boutique. Creating this look was so much fun as I love to make accessories such as belts, tiaras, and veils for clients, so this was right up my alley. Having such control of a vision and then bringing it to life with the photographer was magical. Becca was passionate about her work and knew what she wanted to capture. The images are truly breathtaking! The morning of the shoot I was clipping and collecting wild shrubs to create the bouquets and floral strands in the shoot; it just shows that with some creativity and a little time you can make something wild beautiful."
I initially created this space for my clients. Eventually brides looking for that touch of wow found their way here. Draping and playing with fabric started some twenty years back when I did a three-year stint as a bridal fabrics buyer. After that I opened Bridal Alternatives, a custom design studio and ever since have had the opportunity of working with brides who want that extraordinary one-of-a-kind dress. I'm in love with fashion history and re-invention of the past.
Other connections to fashion? I’ve been a columnist for San Francisco Art and Fashion News and have a weekly fashion buzz on One Wed Blog. I founded The Design Project of San Francisco, a networking organization of fashion professionals collaborating their skills and talents on projects. I’m currently working on a book called—you guessed it—'Bride Chic', all about that white gown and very special designer/client relationship. I live with my husband Edgar and Chihuahua Piccalina in Marin County California.
